Chris Brown is being sued for allegedly beating a man in a nightclub in London.
Abe Diaw says in a complaint obtained by PEOPLE on Thursday that the “Under the Influence” singer smacked him in the face with a bottle of Don Julio 1942 tequila in February at TAPE in London.
According to the lawsuit, Brown, 34, “beating” Diaw in the head with “crushing blows” until he passed out. Brown is said to have “continued to ruthlessly stomp” on him for a further “30 seconds.”
Diaw, who was 43 at the time, “ended up in the hospital with lacerations on his head and torn ligaments in his leg,” the lawsuit states, adding that it left with him “permanent” damage and “severe emotional distress.”
According to Diaw, the altercation was captured on camera by TAPE.
Diaw is suing Brown for damages and asking for a jury trial, according to the lawsuit.
Brown has a lengthy legal history, dating back to 2009, when he physically assaulted then-girlfriend Rihanna. Rihanna was hospitalised after suffering significant facial injuries; Brown was later charged with felony assault and uttering criminal threats on March 5. On June 22, that year, he pled guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal that included community service, five years of probation, and domestic violence counselling.
Brown tweeted after completing the yearlong domestic violence course in 2010. “I have enough self respect and decency to be proud of accomplishing this DV class. Boyz run from [their] mistakes. Men learn from them!!!”
Most recently, in May, reports surfaced of a fight between Usher and Brown the day before they performed at the Lovers & Friends music festival in Las Vegas.
According to a video that TMZ was able to obtain, Brown and Usher, 45, got into a fight at his birthday celebration at the Skate Rock City roller rink. Hollywood Unlocked was first to report the news.
Usher intervened to try to calm Brown down after TMZ reported that he was trying to talk to Teyana Taylor and got upset when she ignored him. According to the outlet, Brown then instructed his team that it was time to leave, and they did so, with Usher trailing behind.
After greeting the group, Usher left, according to TMZ, which quoted an eyewitness, then returned behind a queue of charter buses with what looked to be a bleeding nose.
