Britney Spears has spoken out following her divorce from Sam Asghari.
On Friday, the 41-year-old pop superstar posted a statement on Instagram about their imminent divorce.

PEOPLE confirms the singer and Asghari, 29, split on Wednesday after 14 months of marriage, with the actor filing for divorce the same day.
The couple got engaged in September 2021 and married on June 9, 2022 after meeting on the set of Spears’ “Slumber Party” music video in 2016.
Regardless of the current difficult times, the celebrity is “in great spirits despite everything going on,” according to a source.
“Obviously it’s never an easy thing to go through, but she’s remaining positive and focusing on the future.”
The former couple, who had been suffering for months, decided to “move on a few weeks ago,” according to an insider source.
Meanwhile, Spears is juggling a number of work projects, including the approaching release of a book and new music.
The pop star “is focused on her book release, has an upcoming writers’ camp and is getting songs from some big artists,” states the source. “Ideally she would love to do a new record soon, and maybe a powerful song for the book’s release.” (On October 24, Spears will release her much anticipated memoir, The Woman in Me).
The model-actor originally supported the singer and was on her side during her conservatory battle. Spears and Asghari have both shared glimpses into their married lives on social media over the years, from birthday parties to hiking pictures to, most recently, photos of them wearing identical outfits in July.
A representative for Asghari declined to comment, and an agent for Spears did not respond to queries seeking a comment.
On Thursday, the fitness trainer addressed the couple’s divorce on Instagram Stories.
“AFTER 6 YEARS OF LOVE AND COMMITMENT TO EACH OTHER MY WIFE AND I HAVE DECIDED TO END OUR JOURNEY TOGETHER,” he wrote. “WE WILL HOLD ONTO THE LOVE AND RESPECT WE HAVE FOR EACH OTHER AND I WISH HER THE BEST ALWAYS.”
He added: “S— HAPPENS.”
